There are 3 was to advertise on Blurtzone.com: 1) by sponsoring another user’s story and placing your banner ad above it 2) by sponsoring your own story, for FREE, by placing your banner ad above it 3) by hosting a competition You need to be a registered Blurtzone user in order to place an advert. Once registered, log in and click on “Advertising: manage my ads” or “Competition: host my own” according to your intentions.

Each story on Blurtzone can be sponsored by means of a banner ad which appears above the story. Anyone who reads the given story will also see this banner ad and will be able to click on it, to be redirected to the sponsor’s site.

If you have posted your own story on Blurtzone, then you can sponsor your story for FREE. Alternatively, you can sponsor an existing story, by bidding for the right to place your banner ad above the story for 1,000 page views. The higher your bidding amount, the more likely you are to win the right to place your banner ad above the selected story. When there are only 100 views left, you will be contacted and given the option to extend your sponsorship.

The minimum bidding amount is $5, which covers 1,000 page views (this is equivalent to just $0.005 each time that the sponsored story is read). The higher your bidding amount, the more likely you are to win the right to place your banner ad above the selected story.

If you have posted your own story on Blurtzone, then you can sponsor your story for FREE, and no other sponsor can take your place.

You can bid to sponsor any story which does not have a banner loaded by the writer of the story.

You can bid to sponsor a specific story that you have read - perhaps because:
 you particularly like the story, or
 the content of the story relates to your product, or
 you think it will attract the type of audience that you are trying to target with your advert.

Alternatively, you can choose to sponsor stories with particular characteristics - for example, you might wish to limit your sponsorship:
 to stories appearing in a certain category or sub-category, or
 to highly-rated stories (ie. stories with a rating above a certain level),
 to specific authors.

Before sponsoring any story, you can view stats relating to the demographic profile of the past readers of that story – this includes a breakdown of the age, gender and country of residence.

The writer of the story will only be able to load his own banner ad once your sponsorship has expired (ie. the 1,000 page views have all been used up). The story will then not be available for sponsorship.

In this case, the banner ad of the writer takes precedence, and the story will no longer be available for bidding. Your bid will automatically fall away.

There is no restriction on the size of your banner ad, but the dimensions must be no greater than 464 x 66 pixels and the resolution should be at least 72dpi. The banner ad must be an image (eg. a jpeg, gif or animated gif).

Yes, within reason. We do, however, reserve the right to take down any banner ad which is deemed offensive. (We will be more lenient with banners in the Dirty Stuff category, though.)
